How To Create a Teams Meeting

Modified on Fri, 5 Jan at 10:02 AM

1. Navigate to either your locally installed Teams application or teams.microsoft.com. All Pfeiffer issued laptops have Teams installed at time of dispersal to employees. Students and Adjuncts may download the Microsoft 365 suite applications from office.com

2. Click on the Calendar tab on the left hand panel.

3. In the top right corner, you will see two options. You can click Meet now to jump right into a meeting or New meeting to schedule one for later. If you click Meet now, you will have the option to create a shareable link or to simply start the meeting. Copy this link to your clipboard or share via email, then click start.

4. To schedule a meeting, click New meeting. Add a title, attendees, the time and date, and a description if necessary. Click More options before saving this meeting to ensure all settings are configured. This menu allows the organizer to choose who can bypass the lobby, who can present, and who can use their microphone and camera. There are also important features to review such as the use of Chat, Q&A, attendance reporting, and recording.

How to create a Teams meeting in Outlook:

1. Navigate to either your locally installed Outlook application or the browser version of Outlook.

2. If you choose the Outlook application, go to the Calendar tab. You will see options for 'Meet Now' and 'Teams Meeting.' Meet Now will take you directly to the screen where you connect your audio and video before joining the meeting. Clicking Teams Meeting, and then Schedule Meeting, will take you to the screen shown in the second image below. Once you hit send, your meeting will be on your calendar.

Disclaimer: If the icons are greyed out, you may need to uncheck one of your calendars for it to show up.

3. You can also do this by simply clicking 'New Meeting.' This will show you the same screen as above.

4. If you choose to use the browser version, go to the calendar tab and click 'New Event.'

5. Here, you can turn on the option for this event to be a Teams meeting and click save.
